Ever wonder what types of content or stories you should share in your content marketing strategy?

Over the last couple of years, I have done some trial and error with my content marketing to determine what works and what doesn't. Now don't get me wrong, what works for me isn't end all be all; however, what I am going to share with you are proven stories that have worked for me in my business and they're the same pieces of content my clients use in the content marketing strategy.

Why should you share your stories as part of your content marketing strategy?

  • Helps you get insanely visible.

  • Builds the know, like, and trust factor with your prospects.

  • Allows you to build relationships with prospects.

  • Positions you, your business, and brand as an authority figure, expert, and industry leader.

  • Helps you attract leads that'll lead to clients and sales.

In short, there are five stories you should use within your content marketing to help you get insanely visible, drive traffic, collect leads, and convert to paying clients and they are:

  • Inspirational Stories

  • Faith-Focused Stories

  • Everyday Life Stories

  • Mysterious Stories

  • Educational Stories

Now that you know the five types of stories to share, let's dive into each one and take a look at why they're so powerful to use in your content marketing strategy!

INSPIRATIONAL STORIES

Sharing your inspirational stories with your prospects reminds them that their dreams can come true. It can also help motivate your prospects to achieve their dreams. Your tribe follows you for a reason! They look up to you and aspire to be like you and by you sharing a story that provides hope, inspiration, or motivation is essentially like luring a child with an ice cream cone. They'll eat it up! They crave more from you so that they can stay inspired as they hustle for their dreams.

Also, sharing your inspirational stories are a powerhouse way to connect with your tribe. It has been said before that stories sell and facts will tell. The facts are the proof in the pudding but the story will help you establish trust with your prospects. Let's be honest, people buy from those they know, like, and trust.

Moreover, sharing your story, allows you to position yourself differently in a crowded market because it is unique to YOU! Your story won't be like everyone else and as a result, it becomes your unique selling proposition (USP).

When preparing to share an inspirational story, you should consider the following questions so that you can hone in on which one will be the most impactful:

  • What makes you uniquely you?

  • What challenges or struggles have you overcome?

  • How did you overcome these challenges?

  • How does it relate to your tribe?

FAITH-FOCUSED STORIES

When sharing a story that is faith-focused, you're able to connect again with your tribe and provide them hope. Your story could help them deepen their faith and overcome a personal struggle similar to yours. In addition, it could be the very thing they need to hear to bring them back to their faith and deepen their relationship with God.

Much like the inspirational stories, stories about your faith are powerful. Look at it this way, perhaps it's the Holy Spirit working through you to share a deeper message with your prospect to have a profound impact on their lives. Pretty mind-blowing way to look at it, isn't it?

Your journey to be closer to God is so powerful! The trials and tribulations, as well as the answered prayers, are special to you and only you. It's part of your story and your unique message to share with the world.

When determining how you can share your faith-focused stories, consider answering the following questions:

  • How ask God answered your prayers?

  • What trials and tribulations have you experienced but you have overcome?

  • How has your journey to deepen your faith relatable to your tribe?

  • Have you experienced something miraculous and received God's grace?

  • Why is your faith and integral part of your story and who you are?

EVERYDAY LIFE STORIES

We're all human. We are flawed but we are unique. We are all perfectly imperfect. Sharing the good, bad, and sometimes even the ugly stories make you relatable to your prospects.

Look at it this way, your tribe would love to be a fly on your wall! People are naturally curious and want to see how you live our life. What you eat, wear or listen to. Where you vacation, what you do in your free time or how you celebrate the holidays. The more YOU that you let them see, the quicker you're able to build a relationship with your prospects.

I don't have the most exciting life but my tribe loves seeing me live my life. Even when I share the good, bad, and even the ugly truths to my life or business. Why? Simply because it makes me human and relatable.

How often do yo put the people that you follow up on a pedestal? If you do, STOP! They are no different than you. You can aspire to be like them and want their lifestyle but please oh please don't ever think that they are perfect. We ALL have flaws!

Here's the real truth as to why sharing your everyday life stories are powerful, it's because if you breakdown the stereotypes and the constant highlight reels that only appear online. You're being real, raw, and sometimes very vulnerable. Your tribe seriously loves that sort of thing! They feel connected to you and allows them to see that you're not perfect, you make mistakes, and that your life is much like theirs!

Remember, people buy from those they know, like, and trust. They want to feel soulfully connect to you! Give them, within reason, a taste of what your life is like!

MYSTERIOUS STORIES

Sharing a mysterious story or even something behind the scenes reminds your prospects to always seek the truth behind the mystery. People want to know more especially when you leave them intrigued.

Look at little school girls. They're always sharing secrets with each other like it's some exclusive club! Everyone wants to be a part of something that is top-secret or mysterious. It makes them feel special and important.

Ever play the game Clue? Imagine the fun you could have with your tribe as you divulge secret behind the scenes content or photos that are part of a bigger project that you're working on. They'd be intrigued, right? How could they resist trying to play clue to solve the mystery? They wouldn't!

Your tribe is your community and think of it as an exclusive club. They follow you for a reason and they want to be a part of what you have going on. Allow them to a part of it! Remember that your tribe is wearing an invisible sign that says, "Make me feel important."

How can you make your tribe feel important and be a part something you're working on?

EDUCATIONAL STORIES

Sharing an educational story reminds your prospects about all the knowledge and wisdom that you have and why they should seek you out for your expertise to help them learn and grow. It allows you to educate your tribe and when you share your educational type of stories.

Think about what your zone of genius is. Essentially, what do you want to be known for? What is your background and story around what knowledge, skills, and experience that you have? In addition, what are your God-given gifts? What are you inherently amazing at?

Utilizing this information so that you can share your unique story to how you are qualified to share your wisdom is one epic way to position yourself as an authority figure, leader, and expert in the industry. Anyone can regurgitate information off of the internet; however, not everyone has the same educational background as you or have the same God-given gifts. These are unique to YOU and therefore are another way to help position yourself differently in a crowded market as part of your unique selling proposition.

If you have a degree, share it. If you have some skill that comes natural to you, own it. The point here is to embrace your background and share it with the world. You would be surprised who you can connect with when you share how you acquired your knowledge and why your wisdom dropping is the bomb!

As you can see, these five types of stories are a powerhouse way to nurture the relationships with your prospect and build the know, like, and trust factor. The name of the game is to get visible, drive traffic, collect and acquire leads, and convert to paying clients. How is this possible? Through sharing your incredible stories as part of your content marketing strategy!
